Overview:
We are seeking a skilled Sterile Processing Technician to join our team. As a Sterile Processing Technician, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the cleanliness and sterility of medical equipment and instruments. Your attention to detail and adherence to aseptic techniques will contribute to the overall safety and well-being of our patients.
Responsibilities:
- Clean, disinfect, and sterilize medical instruments and equipment according to established protocols
- Inspect instruments for damage or defects and report any issues to the appropriate personnel
- Assemble instrument trays and surgical sets with precision and accuracy
- Monitor and maintain inventory of sterile supplies, ensuring an adequate stock is available at all times
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure proper handling and storage of sterile items
- Adhere to infection control guidelines and maintain a clean and organized work area
- Follow all safety protocols to minimize risks and maintain a safe working environment
Experience:
- Previous experience as a Sterile Processing Technician or similar role preferred
- Strong knowledge of sterile processing techniques, aseptic principles, anatomy, medical terminology, and physiology
- Familiarity with various types of medical instruments and equipment
- Ability to operate sterilization equipment effectively and safely
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Strong communication skills and ability to work well in a team environment
EducationAssociate Degree in Healthcare. Required; Bachelor’s degree in science or healthcare preferredExperienceExperience: Five years minimum in Sterile Processing with increasing responsibility. Prior
management experience needed.Technical SkillsDue to the highly technical nature, especially related to interpretation of manufacturer’s
Instructions For Use (IFU), ALL SPD staff must be proficient in spoken and written English.License/CertificationCertification as Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) through Healthcare
Sterile Processing Association (HSPA) formally known as International Association of Healthcare
Central Service Materiel Management (IAHCSMM) or Certified Sterile Processing and
Distribution Technician (CSPDT) through Certification Board for Sterile Processing and
Distribution (CBSPD) is required. Additional three certifications listed below, must be acquired
by new employees or current employees grandfathered into the role within two years. Certified
Instrument Specialist (CIS), Certified Endoscope Reprocessor (CER), and Certified Healthcare
Leader (CHL) through Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA) formally known as
International Association of Healthcare Central Service Materiel Management (IAHCSMM) or
Certified Surgical Instrument Specialist (CSIS), Certified Flexible Endoscope Reprocessor (CFER),
and Certified in Sterile Processing Management (CSPM) through Certification Board for Sterile
Processing and Distribution (CBSPD). Note: Certifications must be maintained as a term of
employment
